Indeed, Paul made his first multi-instrumental recording of a song he'd composed when he was 12 and by the time he was 15 had built not only his own recording studio but much of the electronic equipment in it.

In 1986 Paul and his wife Lori started a commercial recording studio in their home, and over the ensuing years recorded not only Paul and his father Frank's music but the music of many other musicians with ties to Paul's home town of Albion, Nebraska.

In 2002 Paul and Lori started their own record label, Painted Heart Music, and began releasing not only the music they'd been recording for the past 16 years but new albums in a variety of styles and genres. Painted Heart's releases have earned international attention from reviewers for the sincerity of what a Spanish radio programmer called their "exquisite and wonderful" music. This CD features tracks from many of those recordings. All have been produced in the small rural community of Albion and demonstrate, as Emmy-nominated composer Joseph Curiale observed, that "location is no match for talent."
